The Student-Athlete Services Program offers assistance to student-athletes in successfully managing academic responsibilities and completing their baccalaureate degrees - while maintaining athletic eligibility - through the following specialized services:
- Provide academic advising for declared and undeclared majors
- Monitor class selection, course load, attendance and progress
- Provide study hall, tutorial assistance and computer access
- Offer individual counseling and referral services for students with learning disabilities, study skill deficits, career uncertainties and personal concerns
- The CHAMPS/Life Skills Program is designed to help students learn life management principles, develop life-long learning and leadership skills, and continue a pattern of personal and interpersonal growth. Throughout their attendance at Fresno State, students are provided services which help them identify and achieve their educational, career, personal and athletic goals.
- University 1 is a three-unit class offered to freshmen student athletes to help them learn academic success strategies. Topics include time management, goal setting, critical thinking, reading, memory, test taking, library orientation and career planning. Additional topics include sexual harassment, Title IX, nutrition, sports and drugs, and developing personal responsibility.
- The Academic Counseling and Enrichment (ACE) Program provides specialized services to student athletes from all sports who do not qualify for athletic participation during their first year. The program includes assistance in the areas of learning strategy, study skills, life skills and transition into a college setting. Other areas addressed are time management, development of social skills, personal counseling and financial aid.
