FRESNO, Calif. - The second annual Run for the Dream kicked off with an exciting four-way women's collegiate dual meet that featured victories for Fresno State in six events. The Bulldogs were winners over Cal-State Stanislaus and Hawai'i, while Cal Poly defeated Fresno State, Hawai'i and Cal-Stat Stanislaus.

Rayna White was Fresno State's first winner of the day. White captured the 55 meter dash title with a time of 7.26. Erica Embry finished fourth with a time of 7.49.

"It's feels good to win," White said. "It's my first meet, my first win of the season. The track feels much better than the last time we ran here. I really like the setup of the track."

Rosario Sanchez won the shot put on her final throw of 48-4 ½. She beat Cal Poly's Julie Defresne by 2 ½ inches. Fresno State's Lisa Ma'ake to fifth with a mark of 41-8.

In the mile run, Roxanne Sellick turned it on in the final laps to win impressively. By accident, the competitors ran an extra lap, but Sellick still finished with a time of 5:38.02. Briana Cleary took sixth and Sasha Souder finished seventh for the Bulldogs.

"It's nice to be the first mile winner on the new track," Sellick said. " The track feels very different. When I saw the base I didn't think it was going to be runable, but then I started running on it and it wasn't so bad once we got our speed."

    The Bulldogs won both the 4 x 160 and 4 x 400 relay.

The Bulldogs posted the top three marks in the weight throw. Sharon Ayala was first with a mark of 63-9 ½, Grace Weismann was second (52-2 ¾) and Amanda Rollin was third (51-7 ¼).
