FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State women's track and field team has added a Valley runner to the roster for the 2009 season. Allison Gonzales of Exeter High School signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Bulldogs next season.

The Tulare County Runner of the Year registered a career-best 11:23.51 at the Reedley Invitational on April 25 in the 3,200-meter run. Gonzales ran a 5:21.9 in the 1,600-meter run at the Tulare County Championships on April 20, 2007, for a personal best.

Gonzales ran at the state meet in 2007 and will compete again this season at the meet, which will take place in late May.

"In her junior year, Allison had the same marks Roxanne Sellick had in her senior year," said distance coach Joe Gonzales. "So we're hoping we're getting the same kind of runner in Allison."

Gonzales won the both 1,600- and 3,200-meter run at the Tulare County Metric Championships to total eight championships at the meet over her high school career.

"Allison is a very hard worker who sets her goals high and usually reaches them," said Coach Gonzales. "That's the kind of athlete we want to build our program on."

Join the State - Fresno State! The Bulldogs travel to Boise, Idaho, for the WAC Championships May 14-17.
