FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's golf team finished in 12th place on Monday at the USC Collegiate Invitational. After two rounds the No. 8 ranked Trojans are leading the tournament with a five stroke lead over Pepperdine. The Bulldogs struggled in the first round with a 319 but bounced back in the second round with a 299 to finish 618 (50+).

Todd Angel led the Bulldogs with 11-over to tie for 27th place. Angel shot 76-77 - 153 on the day. Michael Gideon and Matt Ryan both shot 14-over. Gideon shot an 81 and a 75 to finish with 156. Ryan improved his second round by ten strokes with a 73. Dean Tonneslan made his debut traveling with the team to tie for 57th place with a 79-78 - 157. Brad Wyatt also improved his second round score by 16 strokes with a 74. Wyatt tied for 73rd place.

"It was a bad day for us, our first round was extremely high," said head coach Mike Watney. "It was very windy on a very difficult golf course and we just didn't do well in the wind. At this stage we are just going to have to try and do the best we can tomorrow.

The par 71 North Ranch Country Club proved hard, as only the leader Jason D'Amore of Loyola Marymount finished under par for the day with 1-under 141.

The Bulldogs will finish the third and final round Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 off of the first and 10th tee. For live scoring go to www.golfstat.com.
