FRESNO, Calif. - The Bulldogs exploded in the fifth inning of game one and carried the hot bats to the first three innings of game two against Northern Colorado Tuesday night as the `Dogs earned the sweep, 8-0 and 10-1 both in five innings. No. 14/19 Fresno State improves to 25-5 on the year.
Game One
With two outs in the bottom of the first, Caitlin Stiglich walked on four straight pitches and Aja Scheuber took the first pitch to center field to score Stiglich from first. The Bulldogs would take the 1-0 lead.
Lisamarie Coronado hit a single to center field. Michelle Palazuelos would pinch run and reach third on an infield single by Haley Perkins to put runners on the corners with one out.
The Bulldogs would then explode in the bottom of the fifth for seven runs.
Shortstop Haley Gilleland would take the first pitch to center field to score Palazuelos and send Perkins to second. Stiglich would also take the first pitch of her at bat to right center field for a double to clear the bases.
The Bears would replace starting pitcher Jamie Juelfs with designated player Kelli Henderson with one out and the Bulldogs up 4-0.
Mallory Perkins would pinch run for Stiglich at second and reach third on a wild pitch. Scheuber would draw a walk.
Ashley White would clear the bases with a first pitch double to left field as Fresno State took the 6-0 lead with still only one out.
Ali King would enter to pinch run for White at second and also reach third on the second wild pitch of the inning by Northern Colorado.

Andrea Ortega would add to the list of names with doubles in game one, the Bulldogs would have four, as she hit a shot over the head of the left fielder to score King from third.
Nicole Angene would reach first on an error and score Ortega from second to end the game at 8-0 in the fifth inning.
Morgan Melloh picked up her 15th win of the season to improve to 15-3 and allowed just two hits in the game. Juelfs fell to 3-10 for the Bears.
Game Two
Haley Perkins led off game two for the Bulldogs with a single off the leg of the Bears starting pitcher Hillarie VanOtterloo.
Haley Gilleland would then hit a perfect bunt right in front of the catcher and reach first safely and send Perkins to second.
To load the bases with no outs, Caitlin Stiglich would reach first on an error by VanOtterloo on a bunt.
Aja Scheuber would hit a bunt single of the head of the shortstop to give the Bulldogs the early 1-0 lead in the first.
Ashley White would ground out to second base but pick up an RBI as Gilleland scored from third.
A sacrifice fly to center field by Andrea Ortega would score Stiglich from third and the Bulldogs would take the 3-0 lead after one inning of play.
Brooke Phipps hit a single to center field followed by an error by UNCO that sent Perkins to first. An infield single by Gilleland loaded the bases with one out.
After a Bulldog strikeout, Scheuber would clear the bases with a double to center field for a 6-0 Fresno State lead.
White would single to center and reach second on the error and Scheuber would score on the play.
With two outs still in the bottom of the second and a 7-0 Fresno State lead, game one pitcher Kelli Henderson entered to replace VanOtterloo on the mound.
An Ortega double to left field scored White from second to extend the inning. Angene then followed with a single blooper to center to score Ortega to give the `Dogs the 9-0 lead. They would get six hits and six runs in the second inning.
Phipps led off the bottom of the third with a bloop single to left, followed by an infield single by Perkins.
Gilleland's sacrifice fly to left field would score Phipps from third. Aubrey Fast would enter to pinch hit for Stiglich and catch, her fourth appearance of the season and she would draw a walk with one out.
Fresno State would leave two on base and take the 10-0 lead after three.
Northern Colorado would get its first hit of the game and first run of the night in the top of the fourth after VanOtterloo reached first on an error. She would eventually score from third with two outs off a single to left field by Katelyn Landorf. The Bears would leave three runners on base and trail 10-1 after four and a half innings.
Ashley Cox with get her fourth win of the season for the Bulldogs as she pitched the complete game and allowed no runs on two hits. Cox struck out a season and career-high seven batters.
It would be the fifth game of the season that the Bulldogs would score 10 or more runs.
Fresno State leave on Wednesday for Fullerton as they will play in the Judi Garman Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton, Thursday-Saturday.
