While traveling the world with the Canadian National Team to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, junior All-American pitcher Robin Mackin is redshirting this season and will return to the Bulldog lineup in 2009. Though she won't don a Fresno State uniform this season, Mackin wanted a way to keep in touch with her teammates and the Bulldog faithful. Every Monday, Mackin will post a new blog at www.gobulldogs.com. She will tell stories of her previous week on the road with the Canadian National Team, the places she has been, people she has met, and things she has learned along the way. Below is Mackin's first entry. Mackin's blog will also be carried by the NCAA official blog site, Double-a Zone. Fans can view Mackin's blog along with other NCAA Student-Athletes blogs and post comments at: http://www.doubleazone.com/2008/02/gearing_up_for_the_olympics.html

Robin Mackin Blog Entry No. 13

April 29

Time really seems to be flying by these days! On Monday of this week we started team camp here in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is the first time everyone has been together since they came back from Australia around the end of March. The coaches referred to it as a 'check in' camp, just to make sure everyone was on the right track. The camp ran from Monday - Friday, and once Friday evening came around we were all wiped out.

A typical day would commence with a pitching workout starting at 7:30am, team practice or fitness testing starting at 9am, and then we would generally be done the morning session somewhere around 12-1pm. Following lunch, we would have a lift to do in the afternoon, and meetings of some sort in the evening. The weather was unfortunately not very accommodating. We only got to be outside for one team practice, and the rest was in their indoor facility.

On Friday evening most of the team left to go back home. Until June 1st, I will be in Lincoln, NE staying with a teammate and training. I am currently accompanied with two other teammates who are staying for the week to train and then going to other locations to train for the month of May. Everyone is at their own digression as to where they feel they can get the best training and coaching over the next month.
