Ed Jackson joined the Bulldog coaching staff as an assistant in April of 2008, along with his wife Alanna. Ed spent 2007-08 as a 7th-8th grade physical education instructor and head volleyball coach at Sage Ridge School in Reno, Nev., while Alanna was an assistant at the University of Nevada.

At Sage Ridge, Jackson created age and developmentally appropriate curriculum based on national physical education standards. He was responsible for scheduling all practices, competitions and team functions for varsity and junior varsity programs. He developed and implemented a plan of improvement for both teams and was in charge of hiring assistants to help with practice and competitions.

In four years at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, Jackson started as an assistant head coach and was promoted to associate head coach in 2006. In his time at William and Mary, Jackson was responsible for practice planning, video analysis and in-match strategy.

Prior to joining the staff at William and Mary, Jackson served as an assistant coach at the University of California - Santa Barbara for one season, where he was responsible for recruiting and video analysis.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Jackson worked with the highly successful Davis Volleyball Club, coaching its team of 16-year-old girls in 2001-02. He continued his work in club volleyball as the director of the Williamsburg Volleyball Club in Virginia, overseeing the administration and management of the 11 teams and served as a liaison between coaches, players and parents. He also served as the head coach of the 17 Black performance boy's volleyball team.

Before his work with the Davis Volleyball Club, he served as a head coach and personal trainer for over five years with High Voltage Volleyball in Sacramento, qualifying four squads for the U.S. Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships.

Jackson also served as a physical education teacher and head coach of the varsity team at Sacramento's Rio Americano High School, compiling a combined record of 39-6 in two seasons. Under Jackson, the Raiders won the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) sectional championships both years and advanced to the California State Tournament, reaching the semifinals in 1999 and the quarterfinals in 2000.

Jackson also has one season of head coaching experience in the college ranks, guiding the club program at UC Davis in its 1999 campaign. At the Division I level, Jackson spent a year at Eastern Illinois University, serving as a graduate assistant with the Panthers while working toward his master's degree in sport administration.

A 1994 graduate of Sacramento State, Jackson was a collegiate club All-American and a national championship MVP as an outside hitter

Jackson is a native of California, hailing from San Diego. Ed and Alanna welcomed their first child Edward Richard Jackson into the world on June 21.
